Sam looked at Dee from over the top of his computer, nervousness kicking in. She'd been with the boys for a few days, somewhat because Sam was afraid of her getting hurt but it was mostly because he needed to get her trained before she went out on her own. He knew she'd be protected now since she got that anti-possession tattoo above her hip but ( Read more... )

Dee had her back propped up against the headboard as she read over the book that Sam had given her. He had been really helpful the past few days with getting her trained and getting her well versed in the world of hunting the supernatural. Of course dating a hunter a while back, she knew a thing or two but it was little compared to what the Winchesters knew. She flips the page and tilts her head a little as she read, her knee swaying a little.

She could feel a slight tension in the room when Dean was around so she simply just did what she was there to do. Sure, she got closer to Sam. It was something Dee couldn't control. It was what her heart wanted and she was bad at controlling those emotions. When Sam spoke up, Dee lifted her head and looked at him.

"Almost. Why? Did you need something?"

Sam was trying to keep his distance. It was tough and it hurt like hell but he didn't know how else to do this. Just try to be cold and just teach her everything he knew. And of course with all his new Men of Letter's research he's recently acquired that's a lot of knowledge to get crammed in to such a small amount of time.

"No, no," he said quickly, looking back down at the information on his computer. "Just uh... wondering how you're doin' with it. I know it's a lot of information... Just... Just wondering."

This was just... inhumanly awkward. At least on his side. He tried to deal with things, just bury his emotions and try to keep it professional but he was getting a little anxious.

Dee was far from stupid. She knew what he was doing. Sam was closing himself off from her. She knew his feelings because he verbalized them very well the other night. It was something that would never happen between them. She had been trying her best to do the same and hold back her feelings toward him. But, when he sat in front of her with those adorable puppy eyes, he was hard to resist.

When he stumbled over his words, she inwardly sighed and went back to finishing up what she had left to read. But it was hard for Dee to even concentrate now knowing that Sam was acting weird. She shut the book a little louder than normal and got up, putting it on the table in front of him.

"Done. Now what?"

Why should she act as if things were okay when they weren't? She tried to go back to normal and play around with him and make the experience fun. But Sam had to go and screw that up with worrying too much about the situation between them.

He caught that little passive agressive move, shutting the book lowder than necessary but hey, he couldn't blame her. He'd been an ass. But he needed to be. He had to distance himself from her. It's not like it's easy for him and he's not just doing it for Dean... no matter how many talks he'd had with his brother about it.

Sam looked up at her as she set the book down on the table in front of him, picking up yet another book and holding it out for her to take. "Shifters. How to recognize them and the differences between breeds."

And without another glance, he went back to looking for cases on his computer, holding up the book in one hand. Yeah. A bit dickish but what could he say? When Sam was all business he was just all business.
