She could feel a slight tension in the room when Dean was around so she simply just did what she was there to do. Sure, she got closer to Sam. It was something Dee couldn't control. It was what her heart wanted and she was bad at controlling those emotions. When Sam spoke up, Dee lifted her head and looked at him.
"Almost. Why? Did you need something?"

"No, no," he said quickly, looking back down at the information on his computer. "Just uh... wondering how you're doin' with it. I know it's a lot of information... Just... Just wondering."
This was just... inhumanly awkward. At least on his side. He tried to deal with things, just bury his emotions and try to keep it professional but he was getting a little anxious.

When he stumbled over his words, she inwardly sighed and went back to finishing up what she had left to read. But it was hard for Dee to even concentrate now knowing that Sam was acting weird. She shut the book a little louder than normal and got up, putting it on the table in front of him.
"Done. Now what?"
Why should she act as if things were okay when they weren't? She tried to go back to normal and play around with him and make the experience fun. But Sam had to go and screw that up with worrying too much about the situation between them.

Sam looked up at her as she set the book down on the table in front of him, picking up yet another book and holding it out for her to take. "Shifters. How to recognize them and the differences between breeds."
And without another glance, he went back to looking for cases on his computer, holding up the book in one hand. Yeah. A bit dickish but what could he say? When Sam was all business he was just all business.
