Exhausted was putting it mildly. Sam felt like he'd been hit by a truck, then the truck backed up and ran over him again after he'd had a horrible week of food poisoning and a fever of a 103.5. He can't heal him. He's tried. Poured enough grace into Sam while he slept until he was dizzy with the effort of it.
No one was supposed to go through those trials. They were a goddamn fluke, but leave it to the Winchesters to fucking find the tablet and decide to use it.
Sliding into bed beside him, Gabriel covered Sam with a wing before drawing him in against his chest. When he woke up, they were going away. For at least a little while.

"Hey Gabe," he murmored without opening his eyes. He loved his Angel, loved the warmth that radiated off of him, loved the way he tasted and smelled... loved the way how one of God's most powerful creatures could be so gentle at times and fierce when needed. "Was wondering when you'd pop in again."

"Never that far from you, kiddo," this time he leans to kiss him properly on the lips. Even if he was across the planet, his grace was always attuned to his love. "Get some sleep. When you're ready, we're taking a mini-vacation you and me."

Then the proper kiss, and Sam melted a little. He always swooned a little at the kisses from his Angel. But... then Gabe said something that just didn't make sence and his eyes finally opened, looking up to find Gabriel's face. "A vacation? Gabe, I can't go on a vacation. I've got too much stuff to do."
Even though the prospect of a vacation with his angel did sound fantastic. But he had to find their prophet... and find out what the third trial was and.... well... try not to die in the process.
