An important thing to note is that not every banned book is worth reading solely because it was once banned. Some of them suck, not to put too fine a point on it. But regardless, it is better to have the freedom to read it and decide for yourself whether or not it is worthwhile than to allow someone else to make that decision for you.
Oh, I definitely agree. I've nevered considered the fact that a book was banned to be much of a gauge for anything (including the questionableness of its content, actually.) And actually, I'm not opposed to the idea of some books being banned from schools. I mean, seriously, obviously some books [think Sidney Sheldon and that ilk] aren't appropriate for young kids. Of course, most of the books on the banned books list aren't books I agree with banning. (And many of them I can't even figure out why they'd be banned.)
