Week in Review
Ahh, the first day of winter break, how I love thee.
Man what a week. Way too much caffiene and not enough sleep. But now its all done.
My Ilustration class was by far my weakest final. We were to draw a non-lifelike portrait of a celebrity with secondary imagery that represents them. I depicted Alice Cooper as a ringmaster in a circus. It was a fairly good idea but I didnt finish it. That actually wont affect my final grade though. The class focused on all the initial work that must go on before starting a final piece. So we were graded by our rough work, an actual finished piece was optional. Odd, I know. Even though it wasn't required I felt like a failure for not finishing it in time. I'm fairly certain I'm getting a C in that class. A B would be nice but I doubt it'll happen.
Math was pretty easier compaired to my other finals. We had a 5 question take home exam that I am fairly certain I nailed. Thanks goes to Jess for helping me with two of the problems I was stuck on.
Out of all my finals I am most proud of my Typography book. We had an open crit yesterday with both our teacher and the head of the design department. He really ripped on some peoples books. But not mine. When it was my turn he took my book and commented on how immpressed he was since seeing my spreads a week ago. He though I had had my book professionally bound and was suprised to find out that I bound it myself. He said that my type book was better than most of the work coming out of Type 3. Plus the school is purchasing a copy of my book. Here's a few pics.

I hardbound the book and used the paper from inside the book on the cover as well.

The entire book is black and white, but there is a small amount of red on the cover. I matched that red with some heavy paper stock for the inside of the book.

This is one example of the spreads. Every spread was different but I thought it would be overkill to show the whole thing.
Then there was my Tools final. Rather boring really. I didnt enjoy this class very much but I know I aced it. Next semester should be cool, Tools2 focuses on web design and Flash. Anyway, here's my final spread...

So thats about it. I could ramble on more about the whole "no sleep" thing but you can just look through previous entries to see how much of a whining bastard I was. Regardless, I am now free for a month so I'll be around more often. My apologies to everyone for not checking LJ ever.
