For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great... okay, maybe not so great.

Good morning, good people of LJ. Would you be so good as to help a girl out?

At one point this weekend I watched Labyrinth with some friends. We discovered that among us, those who had watched Labyrinth as a child wished they could get into Jareth's pants (insert joke about how even Jareth has trouble getting into those pants) and those who were ( Read more... )

The University I went to and now work at is the one Jim Henson went to.

When I was a freshman, they had a whole Henson-month where they had muppets in the library, dedicated a statue of him, and renamed the main street on campus to "Sesame Street."

They also played a few of his movies, Labrynth included, on the big movie screen. And Hoggle spends a lot of time with his face in Jareth's bulge. There was a drinking game dedicated to this.

That is all.

Wow... I wish my Uni had a muppet month. ;___;

Lol, drink every time you see the ... "area"? (Yes, the internet has named Bowie's crotch. Google "the church of areaology" sometime... nsfw)

When you said Err no, I would rather have Hoggle/Ludo/Sir Didymus/Other who do you mean? :P

The statue is pretty awesome: http://www.frikworld.com/uploads/224a9530bd27aba.jpg And I used to love visiting the Fraggles on display in the library.

Yes. Yes, that was the game.

If I had to be swept into that bizarre land, I would rather have a group of awesome Muppets to pal around with than David Bowie's cod piece.

That statue is indeed awesome XD

I have also played this game. It doesn't show up as often as I would have thought... although you have to finish your drink every time anyone looks directly at it, so that helps.

All this talk of cod-pieces is reminding me of that conversation about um, "flowers" that we had that one time.

LOL my shame at not yet seeing "Labyrinth" cannot be expressed. I was such a quintessential 80's and Muppet child in every other way, I don't know how I've missed it thus far.

I just saw "The Dark Crystal" back in April :(((

To be fair, what I've seen of the Bowie in it has been very delicious, as the Bowie tends to be.

Nooooooooooooo! You have not yet Labyrinth? Blasphemy! Hehe... I only watched The Dark Crystal a couple of years ago... as an adult I didn't get it. ;_;

But you should see Labyrinth, asap, because it must be seen at least once!

The Bowie is indeed delicious. I feel that you and I understand one another!

IDK what it is but guh... especially that bit at the end...

"Just fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave."

hey, they little girls of today can keep their Edward Cullens. Leave me to my Goblin King.

I watched Labyrinth as a child, and then recently watched it again as an adult. And, to quote, I'd hit that with the fist of an angry goddess. Jareth is smokin'.

*grin* Pants, magic pants!

Yeah, same here. I never noticed the pants as a teeny thing. Then at uni I remember coming across some discussion of the pants and thought I don't remember that so I had to check it out.

Now I have the deeveedee.

XDD

Those pants were certainly magical *giggles like a loon*

BTW have you seen this comic?
