The Daughter of Siena was my first renaissance Italy book and it was so good! I'm so happy it turned out great because if the author somehow fucked up the Palio I would be very sad indeed.

Yeah, I totally loved the sort of quiet but intense build up and the emotion that pervaded through the prose. The narrative structure was great too, different and a bit unconventional but it worked fabulously.

I haven't read Dante's Divine Comedy or much of the Arthurian tales. I should totally get on it. Heh. Oh and Pillars of the Earth too.

This book was love <3.
