Squeeze one out for America...

There's no reason for that title. It's just the first words that blared out of the TV when I turned it on just now. Futurama, if you want to know. Darren's now turned that off and is playing House of the Dead. Enough of my banality and on to to other types.

Is it truly the end of the blogging era?I can't say that I'm blameless in all of this as I' ( Read more... )

should I even bother to pay for my LJ account now?

No idea. I've only ever had a free account. But to be honest, there's only one feature of paid accounts I notice myself missing, and that's when people leave LJ for pastures new. As a free user, I can't create a feed of their new blog, to allow me to continue reading it on LJ.

paid accounts can plug your blog simply into your website and allow you to track replies so that they appear in your inbox as opposed to fishing for the posts you replied on

*waves* I've been thinking about you, but I'm busy. I have a lot going on and can't even begin to put most of it into words. I've never been that great at updating on LJ, prefering actual conversation with people instead. i can be found on facebook/msn periodically. I think i only like facebook as us phd students check it regularly. When I am away from my computer it gets so clogged up with rubbish that it's not much fun.

I am not yet on twitter.

If you weren't here I would miss you though,

don't feel bad at all! It's the kind of thing I do from time to time... just because you're here doesn't mean it's convenient to (or even that you want to see me)... e.g. I'm going to Imperial tomorrow, there are plenty of people I *could* meet but I probably won't tell anyone because I'm there to work and it gets stressful trying to fit other people in with that :)

I feel bad that I haven't had more time to pay attention to you (look: shiny new friend over there must play with) but the reality is that we both have busy jobs. Next time you're around (and want to say hi) then let me know and say hi :)

I agree, Facebook smells. It's so full of people playing games that the people having a life are swamped under a tide of ugly ducklings and mafia hits.

Twitter, I must admit also sets my teeth on edge for similar reasons.
Having seen people tweet things like "Feeling thirsty", "Have a drink now", "finished drink..." I was just rolling my eyes and waiting for someone to be writing "need a poo", "heading to the bathroom" etc.
At which point I would feel honour bound to destroy the human race.

Whether you pay for your LJ or not, please keep writing. At present it's the only way I have to know that you, one of the few people I'd actually invite to my desert island hideaway rather than shooting on sight, are still alive, kicking and lovely as ever.
