knitting charity

So, I work at Michael's Arts & Crafts, and one of the big things we do is collect squares for Warm Up America. For the link-wary, Warm Up America is a knitting charity where people take spare yarn (just acrylic worsted weight) and knit or crochet it into 7"x9" block. I, personally, don't have enough time. :( But I think if you advertised it on as many knitting communities as you can (as well as the two charity comms you mentioned), you'd get a fair few members--those who are already participating, and those who may be drawn to it by seeing your community.
