I've spent the last several days completely engrossed in a couple of novel-length Brokeback Mountain stories. I am usually pretty wary of fanfic as long as this -- the first one is 274,000 words, and the sequel is 244,000 words -- because in my experience stories this long usually don't need to be this long and would benefit from a good editor. This sounds like something I'd like to read. There's nothing more I love than getting deeply engrossed in a story.
I'm fence sitting on the WIP status. I hate investing the time reading a story only to be left hanging in the end. I'll download it to my Nook and give it a shot. I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my new fandom (Shameless) and devouring every piece of Gallivich fanfic I can find on AO3.

Yeah, I hate WiPs, but this thing had so many kudos, and I figured that even if the series isn't finished that each book would be its own self-contained thing, which is true (especially for the first part).
I don't even know what Shameless is...movie? TV series? *clueless*

And thanks for telling me about Shameless. It does sound like something I would like, unless it's really dark? I don't have Netflix, but maybe I could see if our library system has it on DVD. Could be a fun summer marathon (I have a couple of trips coming up this spring).
