Lock it up. Noone has any right to use your stuff without permission. It is YOUR CHOICE what to share and what not to share. There are many idiots out there, and they JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND that what some fans do is out of kindness and providing a little bit of information on the fandom they enjoy. It's too bad there are stupid people but hey thats why that phrase was coined....there's one born every minute....

Yoshimi: Unfortunately, when you post something on the web that isn't locked in some way to prevent others from saving it to their hard drive, anybody can save it and do with it whatever they so choose. And honestly, I can only think of a couple of occasions when the owner of a photo (usually a professional photographer) utilized some sort of anti-copying protection (Paging Sandstorm: what's that thing called?)

For example, if you try to copy an enlarged photo in parts of Scott Lowell's gallery, you get a prompt that says These photos are not Public Domain, and should not be taken from this site. And the ability to copy there is disabled. You can make tiny copies, but not decent sized ones.

Bottom line: people can do it, and therefore do do it. But, with that said, many in the fandom are extremely respectful of other's requests NOT to use taken material publicly. Obviously, many people have copied your pics for their own personal enjoyment and I doubt that bothers you much - it's seeing them used by others without permission ( ... )

Thank you so much for advising me sincerely. Sure, I don't care that people save my pics into their hard drive as long as they enjoy them personally. But since seeing my pic in other's icon hurts me, it seems there is only one way I should select. I'll decide tomorrow. I'm going to bed now.
Thanks again! :)

Honestly, I would lock it for you. People can be so disrespectful. These are your personal pics sweetie. If you give permission to use them, then that is one thing. But when you ask that they not be posted or used anywhere, then they are definitely not respecting your wishes!

IMO, I would friend-lock your journal or the pics. Whatever you feel is the best route to go.

*hugs*

No point in going around in circles. Lock it and make sure whoever is on your flist is trustworthy. GD, watermarking photos is one way and you can also protect clips, only I don't have the energy, patience, etc. lol Even if you watermark your pix, they will most likely still end up posted somewhere. Sorry honey!
