I have been having a great time here is a little photo flavor of the new locale...
This is my house...
well not really but it is right outside the building that i live in and is one of the most beautiful buildings. Today a wedding procession passed our window with a scottish marching band. Jamie and i went to check it out and got to see the bride and groom (in kilt) they were cute but reminded me of how far off i want marriage to be in my life.
Here is a statue from heroes square which is at the end of andrassy utca which resembles the champs d'elyse (i dont know how to spell it) and is this beautiful long boulevard that our house is by as well.
within the first week of being in budapest jamie and i were witness to the budapest parade which is the hungarian equivalent of love parade. There was an awesome old man dj and his lover "old man dancer"
Jamie and I also got dressed up to go to a party that was at a girl from the program's apartment and took pictures beforehand.
Later that night after the party there were weird creepy men who told us they were cops and flashed us a "badge" were questioning us about using coke and proceeded to harass us and look up jamies skirt so we ran away and went dancing. At club rio however it was very odd and lots of sketchy men and drunk people so jamie and i decided to leave but were also acosted by some men who thought we were prostitutes it was pretty sweet. first night out pretty much was also the worst, it all got better from there.
On another note there is really great graffiti art around the city, here is a sampling...
Our program also took a group trip via bus to a North Eastern town known as Eger.
This is the view from a castle that we toured.
This is also in Eger and we got some awesome thing of cotton candy.
Lots of stories from Eger...
but life in Budapest has been great. I have sober testaments to them all and I have been gradually coming to terms with a lot of my choices i have made in life and plan to persue. The next leg of my life i feel will be one of self reflection and growth. I hope to learn to be on my own more and to be somewhat more independent. I am really excited to meet new people and to hear about everyone's adventures and to share mine. Lots of love.
xoxo,
