ha! i was right. it was the ptolemaic system! (that was spelled really wrong just there.)

i am currently watching "the Haunting" right now. crazy that.

Anne, I regret to inform you that you were wrong. The whole point of posting the article was to show that epicycles were invented neither by Archimedes or Ptolemy, but instead by Appolonius of Perga.

i know that it was good old appolonius who actually thought it up, but i wasn't wrong in associating the name "ptolemy" with epicycles... since epicycles are part of the Ptolemaic system. ptolemy just didn't think it up, that's all.

Correct. Of course, it pales in comparison to the profundity and complexity of the Tychonic system. And if you find scientific quirks amusing, there is actually no way to really disprove this theory due to relativity. The earth could be the center of the universe, but most scientists would consider it an unfalsifiable proposal.
