Sometimes the yarn has its own ideas.

I've been dinking with this thing for quite a while--trying to get the self-striping colors to match up on the sleeves and body--and the whole time, I was absolutely sure I was knitting a 60cmish kind of size.

Imagine my surprise when I finished seaming the pieces and, um, not so 60cmish after all.

Awwwwwww! It's been too long since I saw Orien, the handsome thing. ;-) His sweater is all packed up and labeled, ready to go out in tomorrow's mail--thank youse!!! (Though I'm pretty sure I wrote "Orion" instead of "Orien" on the card . . . it's 105 degrees here, my hands and brain are NOT working together.)

He's still in his box from the move, but when the doll cabinet's ready, he'll have a fancy new bluegrass-and-fog sweater to welcome him to Kentucky. :) Thanks!

Ohhhhh, have you tried the old halter-dress pattern from the DoA archives? It's really good--the shaping is simple, but flatters resin bodies very, very well. If you don't have it, let me know and I'll send you a copy!

Matching up variegation can make one absolutely loony. Some yarns won't even pretend to cooperate--Noro, for example, where there isn't any discernible pattern in the variegation. Argh.
