Her eyes look like those pictures of the view of the world from space. Blue with tiny specks of green and white and he thinks that, if he stares into them long enough, he'll find the Great Wall of China.
Suddenly the eyes are bronze and a foul stench fills his nose-not just her sick sweetness, but mixed with something more familiar, muskier.
He wakes up in a sweat, knowing something has gone horribly wrong.
*
They don't smell his intrusion (they try not to use their nose when they're together anyway), so they're surprised when he shouts, "What the fuck are you doing?"
They jump apart too fast for human eyes; he stares in disbelief-first at the blonde (those eyes must have been hers from before she turned), then at the Native American.
"Baby?" He says it mockingly. In his mind, he hears one word over and over again. (betrayal betrayal betrayal betrayal)
*
She kissed him with those lips-those lips, swollen from a poison tongue-she kissed him, but it had never been anything like the few seconds he had witnessed before him (the minutes he had seen in his dream)
He starts to question everything.
*
She knows it's wrong. She knows that you're not supposed to go kiss people who aren't yours. She knows that you're not supposed to lie or hurt others.
(Every "I love you" is a lie. Why does she feel superior knowing it?)
What Emmett doesn't know can't hurt him.
*
Caught caught caught caught.
Panic panic panic panic.
Leah looks at one. (he's livid)
Leah looks at the other. (she's amused)
Leah is caught.
Leah runs.
*
When she runs, he know some serious shit is going to hit the fan-and soon.
"What the fuck, Leah? What the fuck?" he thinks.
(A voice in the back of his head says he knew all along)
*
It's when she's running that she realizes she has no place to go.
*
When he catches her, they shout. They shout for a very long time. (Long enough for Rosalie to get bored of it)
When Leah is told to make a decision, Rosalie stands expectantly in the clearing.
Leah tearfully tells her not to come back the next night. Rosalie wishes (again) that she could be human. At least then she could feel the wet satisfaction of tears.
*
He wipes her tears away. He kisses her hair gently.
Her eyes are too filled with moisture to notice the amazement on his face.
*
He had never noticed the funny color of her eyes-like pictures of the world from space-blue, with strange little flecks of green and white mixed in.
*
He doesn't see the wave of emotion sweep through them. Wiping her nose, she caught that sick, sweet scent clinging to her fingers
Why does she still feel like she made the wrong choice?
