Captain Corelli's Mandolin! War (world war 2), history, love, philosophical, well-paced, never cheesy.

Don't watch the movie though, it's absolute crap - even though it had Christian Bale.

i have a few war/history themes.
can't escape from the classics like 1984, Animal Farm. very like English Lit classes but both are a good read, 1984 especially.
if you appreciate dry humour, please do read catch-22 by Thomas Heller(ithink. heller? keller? something like that). i love it to bits. easily the best book i've read in ages.

why don't you try murakami!! he is my goddd. start with 'norwegian wood', good if you like 60s pop culture, love, suicide etc and all aspects of trashy Jap culture.

yeah i was thinking we might have different taste. Just look at our writing styles. you are more the dreamy kind while I prefer to be more direct.

Hee, bizarre tastes.

Does that apply at other places as well? :P
