“I know.” Lyall passed a hand over her eyes. Garrus hesitated, then rested his arm on the human’s shoulder, claws gently sifting in her hair. Liara composed her face well, knowing this wasn’t the time to get wrapped up in jealousy. She put a hand on Shepard’s knee as the asari and the turian shared a look.

Poor Garrus. D: Wants to protect his honey.
I actually really really liked this piece to be honest. I'll probably read it over again in the near future. =]

Oh come on. How many people get to go "Oh yeah, that's my girlfriend. Not that one, that one. The Spectre, Commander Lyall Shepard." Imagine the "OMGWTF" face after that for people who didn't know. But at this point it's probably so obvious in Lyall-verse.
I dunno, it feels sorta real. Not like reality real, but I think you know what I mean. The emotions are real and are there. I haven't played too much Mass Effect (I should play more) but I feel like I can connect with your Shep and understand a little bit of the relationship between her and her turian, without having had played through as far as you have.

Pfff. Well yeah. It's not really obvious; Lyall isn't the openly affectionate type. You're just seeing her with the two people closest to her, so she shares her emotions more easily. Everyone on the Normandy knows, but they're more subtle when they're in public. The last thing Lyall wants is a political hoo-hah about a turian/human relationship.
Mmm, Lyall and Garrus are a tricky pair. They just depend on each other. At this point, they need someone who's willing to walk into hell with them, and be willing to go down with them if necessary. Garrus will never abandon her and vise versa, and that's something the both of them need in the overwhelming face of the Reapers.
