i had a fun hour gardening today. mom and i went to elwood's to buy seeds and some impatiens and those bell-shaped purple flowers i had in oakland, which i can now identify as belonging to campanulaceae, but not much else. i miss gardening! i got all muddy. the first plant i seeded in a pot in oakland is still alive and has so many flowers and buds ( Read more... )

i got calla lilies yesterday--small ones, in my kitchen.

i think the key to enjoying academia is owning the production, bringing in the parts that you think are important. i mean....that's what grad school's supposed to be, right? no more survey courses or games. this is your time to shine and take over. and, especially if you aren't going for a doctorate, as long as you write things that you care about, what else matters?

ooh, i saw some small calla lilies the other day in that woman's yummy smelling garden. they looked edible.

right now i'm writing about invasive spp. and ready to go plant some in my backyard. i should start my own branch of environmental studies: dark ecology. i think maybe i shoulda just been a farmer and called it a day. with jason scott lee!
