{NO, I WILL NOT USE DEFAULT ICONS. ...I actually picked them based on their keywords...>>}

Updated as of 8/03/2009

Akasuna no Sasori
eternalscorpion
i.e.: forever seeking apathy

Sasori is one of the members of Akastuki that Itachi is most intrigued by. His pursuit of eternal perfection and seeking to rid himself of all attachments is something Itachi understands, even if he does not believe he himself is capable of doing the same. Since arriving in Kannagara, they have not spoken to each other often, but that is normal for them. Only recently has Itachi begun to wonder if perhaps Sasori could be a possible ally beyond being a fellow member of Akastuki. In some way, Itachi is both envious and sympathetic towards Sasori, as he believes Sasori has succeeded in many ways of removing his emotional ties to the rest of the world, but he feels sympathy as he does not believe Sasori realizes his folly in turning himself into a puppet. Itachi sees no comfort in living for eternity.

Deidara
clayfireworks
i.e.: talented in being insignificant

Itachi and Deidara are both members of the same organization Akatsuki, and it was Itachi who defeated Deidara and pushed him into becoming a member, even though he wasn't originally interested. Deidara likes to complain about no one understands his art, but Itachi only finds his behavior annoying and childish. Itachi even commented on one of Deidara's dreams to tell him how talentless he was, while Deidara commented on one of Itachi's dream to taunt him. These two do not get along.

Haruno Sakura
ground_breaker
i.e.: girl who dreams of being good enough for his little brother

Itachi has not spoken to Sakura directly since they arrived in Kannagara, but he did have a run-in with her and the rest of Team 7 (minus Sasuke). She glared at him. He found her unimportant. Itachi has seen her dreaming about Sasuke, but is not sure what this girl thinks she means to his little brother.

Hatake Kakashi
ura_no_ura
i.e.: too much, too little, never enough

Itachi and Kakashi were in ANBU together after Itachi joined. They were not on the same team, yet there teams did do joint missions often. It was during this time that Itachi began to suffer make doubts and emotional instability from being forced to kill so often, and the added pressures of his clan's expectations of him. Because of this, he became increasingly reckless, and it was Kakashi who finally stepped in to set him straight...which didn't work that way, because they ended up in a relationship of sorts. Itachi went to Kakashi if he needed release and a way to get his mind off of his concerns, which led to them having a rough and very physical sexual relationship.

As this relationship prolonged, Itachi became more comfortable around Kakashi, and trusted him as much as he could trust anyone. Kakashi was a solid presence in his life, and because of their physical relationship as well as the frequency of their teams partnering on missions, Kakashi became a very important person in Itachi's life. To the point that Itachi became dependent on Kakashi for validation and security. It's not a healthy relationship, as often Itachi seeks pain (aka, really rough sex) as a way to ignore his problems, and he feels his worth to Kakashi is nonexistent beyond being a sometimes friend and sexual partner.

Itachi is pressured by the Hokage and his Council to spy on his family, and he finds out that they are planning a coup d'état. When Itachi is told he has to kill his entire clan, he is conflicted and doesn't want to agree to it, despite the explanations by the council why he should, and so one night when he is really distraught he goes to Kakashi for help. Kakashi instead turned his back on Itachi, telling him that he needed to be stronger for himself, and left Itachi alone to deal with his problems. Itachi is broken because he never believe Kakashi would turn him away as he did, even though he believes they are nothing more than part-time friends (with benefits). Taking this to mean that Kakashi expected him to be strong enough to do what needed to be done on his own without needing others to tell him what to do, Itachi gave into the pressures of the Council and agreed to kill his family.

They meet several times after this, but not until a few years later, and at one point Itachi puts Kakashi into a coma using his technique Tsukuyomi, and Kakashi is the one to point out that Itachi is losing his sight, he had been hiding. When Itachi arrived in another strange world (not Kannagara), he attacked Sasuke thinking he was a genjutsu, and Kakashi came to save Sasuke, along with Yondaime Hokage, Namikaze Minato. They capture Itachi, and Kakashi tortures Itachi for information, by making him think that Kakashi plans to kill Sasuke. Because of his restraints, Itachi is knocked unconscious when he attampts to use too much chakra, and it is through a dream that the Truth is revealed. Itachi awakens to find Kakashi tending to his wounds, and their relationship is once more altered. Kakashi tries to tell Itachi that he should make the first move in repairing the relationship between Itachi and Sasuke, but Itachi does not believe he deserves it and therefore constantly contradicts what Kakashi is trying to say.

When they arrive in Kannagara, Itachi is sent to Konoha with Kakashi, Sasuke, and the rest of the Konoha ninja. Itachi manages to avoid confrontation and finds his own place, but Kakashi contacts him on his birthday to offer a spar. Itachi agrees but has to break their "sparring date" when he realizes his partner, Hoshigaki Kisame, has arrived in Kannagara. Even while traveling with Kisame, and after Pain, the leader of Akatsuki arrives and calls the organization to regroup, Itachi is still sending information to Kakashi. He becomes a spy for Konoha within Akastuki, in order to protect Kakashi and Sasuke, who are both living in Konoha.

When Kakashi has a dream about having sex with multiple partners, Itachi is both upset and jealous, although he does not understand why. In the dream, he realized that Kakashi must have trusted his male counterpart very much to allow him to have control, which is something Kakashi never gave to Itachi, and he wonders if perhaps Kakashi was that sexually active while they were sleeping together. Kakashi has always made it clear that he doesn't do commitments though, so Itachi doesn't believe he has the right to feel the way he does. Kakashi is his own person, and Itachi does not believe he has a right to try to stake claim on something that is not his to begin with. Despite what he feels.

Later on, Itachi has a seriously screwed-up dream about Sasuke, which sends him on a bit of a mental breakdown, but Kakashi steps in and manages to save his broken mind, even if he cannot heal all of the damage completely. Because Kakashi is constantly coming to help him, Itachi is realizing that he never fell out of love with Kakashi, even though he has never admitted in in those words.

When Madara took Kakashi captive, and broadcasted himself descrating Kakashi's severed head, Itachi broke down again, but knew he couldn't give in like he wanted because he needed to protect Konoha--for Sasuke. So he chose to move on, even though he really wanted to kill Madara out of revenge, only to find that Madara had NOT killed Kakashi, but had broken his mind and made him his slave.

Itachi sees this and chooses to believe that the real Kakashi is dead and gone. All that is left is a body Madara can use as he sees fit. But even so it still hurts Itachi to look at what used to be the man is still in love with.

Hoshigaki Kisame
seeingeyeshark
i.e.: Kisa-chan

Kisame has been Itachi's partner since he joined Akastuki. It is Kisame who Itachi has been closest to since he left Konoha after killing his clan. Kisame listens to Itachi and often follows what decision Itachi makes. Itachi appreciates this consistent show of trust, and they relationship has grown to the point where they understand each other's moods easily, even with having to speak about them. As a dream he had showed, Kisame was also looked down upon and mistreated as a child, but for his looks instead of his prodigal abilities, and this bond of both being outcasts as children has allowed Itachi to feel closer to his partner. Kisame is also the one who keeps Itachi from going to far, as Itachi can be reckless at times (and even suicidal) when he has a mission to complete. Kisame is the ever sturdy rock that Itachi so desperately needs in his life.

They have traveled together for 9 years now, but were separated for some time. Itachi was sent to another world, he saw another Kisame there, who he traveled with, but when he was sent to Kannagara they were separated. Itachi knows that anyone can be sent from any time in their life to Kannagara, but because he found Kisame only a short time after they had arrived, he believes Kisame to be the same one from the other world.

But Kisame is not, as he was taken from an earlier point in their timeline, but since Itachi did not realize this, he manged to convince Kisame that he had amnesia and that his memory had been taken away by something--or someone. Itachi believes Kisame's memory loss is caused by Uchiha Madara, and has become more protective of his partner because of this. He doesn't like leaving him alone, and felt very guilty after his breakdown (from the dark, dark Sasuke dream) because he left Kisame alone for an entire day. They joined back up and traveled together until they were called to Kumogakure by Pain.

During this time, Kisame had a dream where he revealed that he had at one time seen Itachi as attractive, only that he didn't think he could ever have a chance because of his insecurity about his abnormal looks, and Itachi was not sure how to feel about it. He instead chose to ignore that, because he was not sure that Kisame wanted him to bring it up, and would rather keep their friendship intact. Since meeting up with Kakashi again, Itachi has realized that he never got over him, and so he never once saw Kisame as someone he could be sexually or romantically involved with. Now though, after Kisame's dream, Itachi has thought about this option, even though he has not had much time to think on it extensively. The two already act like an old married couple, but at the time it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere.

Even so, Itachi still had a dream later on where Kisame was a plushie called "Kisa-chan," that revealed how possessive he really is about Kisame (because he loves his Kisa-chan and no one else can have him), even if Itachi himself was too oblivious to see it for what it was. Kisame found the dream amusing and Itachi then decided to give him the nickname "Kisa-chan," while Kisame called him "goshujin-sama" (which means 'master, owner, etc' and is used by maids in maid cafés for their male client), but Kisame and Itachi are both oblivious to the actual context of the word. (major fail there, aren't they so cute?)

Now they are currently with the other Akatsuki in Kumogakure, preparing for war against Konoha and Itachi is worried about how he can prevent the war, or intervene on the behalf of Konoha (despite not really caring that much about majority of the people there...just Sasuke, since Kakashi is currently Madara's mind-slave), without putting events into motion that could get his partner injured. Being a double agent with people you care about on both sides is hard.

Konan
papercutrose
i.e.: dearest disciple of God

Itachi did not meet Konan until the first meeting of Akatsuki in Kumogakure. He had found out about her through Kisame, had only seen her through dreams and heard her voice through the Hitomi. He knows very little about her beside what he has learned from Kisame and Pain. He knows she is Pain's wife and they have been friends since childhood. Because of this, he assumes that she is the one who was called the Angel of Amegakure. They have not spoken directly to each other since coming to Kannagara.

Maito Gai
youthfulpassion
i.e.: green beast of failery

Mitarashi Anko
crazysnakelady
i.e.: crazy woman whose dreams should be ignored

Namikaze Minato
wind_upon_waves
i.e.: bigger martyr than I am

Itachi and Minato first met face-to-face in the other world they first found themselves in, and Minato stopped Itachi from killing Sasuke and attacking Kakashi. Because Itachi recognized him as the Fourth Hokage, who was dead, this helped influence his belief (as well as Kakashi's own insistency) that he was dead. Even so, Itachi was not very forthcoming with information or respect towards the Hokage, as Itachi no longer feels any bond towards Konoha as a village, and in many ways blames the leadership of Konoha for allowing the oppression, segregation, and eventually of the massacre of the clan happen.

Even though Minato was not at fault, he represents the authority of Konoha that pushed him to kill his family, and therefore he has trouble not treating his with disrespect and some resentment.

At the same time, Itachi can understand and respect the sacrifice that Minato made when he died facing Kyuubi and choosing his own son to bear the burden instead of seeking out another, for it is the same as how Itachi chose Sasuke to become the avenger of their clan instead of just letting some random Hunter-nin do it. But this does not mean that Itachi recognizes Minato's authority as Hokage, or that he even particularly likes him (well, he does, but he doesn't like to admit that he does, because he grew up with the legend of the Fourth Hokage, and Itachi can't completely remove the feelings of childish admiration that were instill in him when he was young).

Other that seeing each other when they first arrive in Kannagara, Itachi has not spoken or interacted with Minato.

Pain/Nagato
callmelegion
i.e.: united by one Failosophy

Uchiha "Tobi" Madara
parousian
i.e.: the beginning of the end

Uchiha Sasuke
a_for_tiori
i.e.: kyoudai

Uzumaki Naruto
windsawakening
i.e.: wannabe usurper

Yakumo Yukari
necro_fantansia
i.e.: drunk on insanity
