oh yay, another lims voting tutorial - might link to it also in the next voting post at tennant_lims ;)

btw... about the real life example - I let that slip because I think "uninspired" is a legitimate reason... as in "unfinished", "not much done" etc. (and I was still pretty new to all that lims voting stuff^^")

I started making a list of "banned words + phrases" for negative votes, maybe you wanna add a thing or two (or not, idk)
(these are just from the last voting at tennant_lims, those I had to comment on and ask to be re-worded)

so far I have weird, odd, boring, meh, I don't like - not much, I know, but I'm pretty positive that list is gonna grow every week XD

... I might come back with some rl examples from my own icons... if I can find the "good" ones again XD

another one? i know there was one at rockmusiclims or something, but i think it didn't have any examples..

and also, with the 'real life example' i didn't mean like 'OMG, how could the mod allow that!!!1!one!!', not a t all, i meant it as a reason that counts, but possibly the iconmaker won't appreciate. i myself would like to know for example what does she mean by that? i mean in what way? maybe give me some tips to make it more 'inspired'..

and i usually allow votes that say something like odd or weird BUT add something else as well (like 'the texture is weird, it clashes with the text' or something.)

and YES, "good" examples are ALL very welcome!!
and also votes that people find very inspiring =)

well, I had only just discovered that first one, that's why I said another one^^ and that other one does have examples, too^^

don't worry, I didn't take it that way... at first I did, but then I thought a bit about it^^ and besides, it's free promotion for the community *g*

yeah, odd is ok if it comes with something else, but that was from a comment like this (it's an actual quote): "the crop is weird, the square is odd too and I don't like the colours." (the person wasn't English speaking though, so it was a bit hard to express everything in the right way for her I guess^^)

my "donation", I don't even like the icon myself, but you may use it if you want XD
here's a "good" negative vote, I think... at least I liked it^^

Really great tutorial! I'm new to icon-making, so this was very useful. I'll keep this in mind for sure :)

I sometimes get disappointed with comment is get too... like "it looks like not much has been done with the coloring", when it took me 6867867543423 layers to make my icon look like that! LOL
Anyway, I think that personal opinions are necessary and actually any kind of judgement has a personal opinion behind it. i.e.: "the image is too yellow" (example 3) and "I think the image is too yellow" aren't THAT different, though I totally agree on the constructive criticism and not just saying "it's ugly".
I'm not very strict with comments at my communities, esp.cause people who are voting might not be very aquainted with techniques and of course it's hard to say that the blue exclusion layer should have had a lower opacity, for example, if you don't even know that feature existed in the first place...
Just my two cents :D
