Out of the 170 schools on the list, none in Illinois offer Creative Writing (my major). And I'll need to take writing classes...and I can't do that if they don't offer them.
Ball State University is smack dab in the middle of Indiana...closer than I am here.
A word about Johnson : it's in the middle of nowhere. Nowhere. It's not a college town, it's not even a real town. It's a very small school and very isolated. It's also a pretty good school, but this is just something to keep in mind... Where your school is does have an impact on your experiences there.
After I got my acceptance letter, my senior year, I called Johnson State and asked if they were on top of a mountain, they agreed. That alone steered me away from there. My mom lives on a mountain in MA, I don't want to do *that* again, in Vermont.
I think I'm headed towards Ball State University in Indiana.
I live in MA right now, but until college, I lived in Vermont. Living in nowhere Massachusetts is not half as isolating as on top of a mountain two hours from anything in Vermont. This is what they mean when they talk about "the middle of nowhere." Its saving grace is it's completely breathtakingly gorgeous.
