"Yeah," she said when she heard Harry's voice, circling a passage in the chapter on editing. Marshall probably already knew all this stuff, but it was new to Kate and she wanted to remember what she could. Placing her pencil in the book, she looked up at the door. "Yeah," she said again. "I'm here. Just... studying, sort of. If you can believe that."

He stepped fully into the room and somehow seeing Kate laying there, casual and at ease and so naturally gorgeous, made his stomach twist again. "You're kidding," Harry said with an unsteady laugh.

She still had no idea how she'd actually help, but it was a good first step.
"So what's up?" she asked. "Did you just come to visit your ridiculously beautiful and intelligent girlfriend?"

"Oh, nothing," he said, grasping desperately at an air of effortless cool and failing. Harry was certain his voice was too high; it probably was. "I just um..." He couldn't say it, couldn't just spit the words out without some kind of proper lead up and he wasn't sure what that was.
"Yeah, I came to visit." That sounded normal, which was a comfort, and it was true, in a sense.
