She hadn't know if it was going to work. It would be too lucky- if it worked, right? If she could see for a single moment through the eyes of a head lost to her two decades now... to receive a single clue about its whereabouts? ... She would try.
Watched without eyes, without a head, as Eden cut herself, then her- and Celty willed the blood not to return to her body, stay out long enough for the magic to take place. (Did she believe in magic? Of course she had to- she existed, didn't she? Eden existed.) A celtic knot written out in the floor...
If Celty breathed, it would have stopped still, watching. Watching Eden's eyes go black, the blood trickle down her nose, her ear, waiting for what seemed like an eternity but what could only have been a second.
And she opened her eyes.
Wait- when had she possessed eyes? Were these her eyes? Her head's eyes? The briefest moment, looking through... water. Green liquid, thick and stinging, and a dark, interior scene... bookshelves? A computer- no, several. A wall of windows... that was all she saw before it rippled and was gone.
Celty almost didn't notice it, when she returned to herself. Too busy processing, too shocked by what she'd seen, that she didn't notice what was missing. She had always been able to see, despite possessing no eyes. She'd always been able to- so why couldn't she now? Why was it only blackness, black as the smoke that leaked nervously from her severed neck, body turning to ascertain she was within it- she was. So- why?
- Eden? Where was she? No sound at all...
Why was it so black and silent?
