Judging Others

"Judge not, that ye be not judged." Matt 7:1

Does that mean we shouldn't judge others?  No, not even close.  We need to judge others in order to change the world.

I understand what you're saying, but I think you want to be careful using the word judge. Maybe a better way of putting it would be Observe and react with prudence? Just a thought.

Sorry, I won't be careful to use the word judge. That's essentially the word Jesus and Paul used. I'd rather be offensive than politically correct. It is important to be prudent though to make sure our judgment is correct. And its important to speak with gentleness and humility (while we speak with certainty) for our words to be respected and received.

The word judge in Matt 7:1 comes from the Greek word 'krino', as does the word judge in 1 Cor 6:2. In both cases its a good transliteration. The point of the video was that most people quote Matt 7:1 without reading the verses following it which give it context. How can you rebuke if you don't judge first?
