Oh, Spitzer, I thought I knew ye.

I am shocked and saddened by the news that my governor used the services of a prostitute.

And I'm hella pissed off, too. This is a guy that made a name for himself by busting prostitution rings.

Because John's of prostitutes are rarely prosecuted, it seems unlikely that he will face charges. Which is a big pile of steaming, ludicrous bullshit.

He's in a little more trouble than the average John. He crossed state lines, that brings into play an obscure law that can prosecute those who break that law.

However, since he's still govenor, he can work out some kind of deal so that he's not prosecuted.

They've brought up several other clients on charges, and as gesthal000 pointed out, he transported the woman over state lines, which makes it a federal crime instead of merely at the state level. And it's looking like there was money laundering involved, too.

So, not to say that charges are guaranteed, but the chances are much better than if he'd just gotten caught with a local woman in a hotel room in NYC.

I just heard that in Sweden, it is illegal to buy sex but not to sell it, so only Johns are prostituted. The net result is a reduction in prostitution.
