[ It's early morning in Luceti and boy, is it cold outside. You can't really blame anyone for taking refugee in some random store in order to escape all the snow and freezing cold. Of course, in this case, anyone is interesting not because he's hiding in a clothing store but because of how he's dressed ( Read more... )

[April's at the shop too, partly because she needs a pair of good insulated pants to wear while shoveling snow. But she's also interested in finding something nice to wear for Christmas--to try to make the best of it, even though she'll spend it stuck here.

She hears someone on the other side of the shelves where she's standing, and from the sound of it, he's not having a very easy time of it.]

What, they don't have your size or something?

You could say that...

[ One of the shirts on the shelves is moved away, creating a small space through which they can see each other. Hello there, beautiful. Why couldn't you come into his life when he's not dressed like a moron? ]

More like they don't have something in my style.

[Wow, why the dorky face outfit, dude? April grins.]

And what style would that be? Scarf-ninja?

Superhero, actually.

[ On the list of awkward things to admit, this must be way up there. ]

[Buffy enjoys the clothing store. Getting clothing might just be the best coping mechanism she has for the last week. But then she spots the man so well-bundled and frowns.]

It's not that cold out. Not yet. It'll get there, though.

Well, yeah. Imagine how bad it's going to be in January.

[ He shoves one of the sweaters back into its place and turns around to face Buffy. Although only his eyes can be seen, the spark in them seems to indicate that he's smiling. ]

That's why I'd rather have my clothes back before that.

[Frowning.] That's something I really don't want to imagine, though. I'm not a fan of the cold.

A lady after my own heart. [ Heh. ] Say, have you seen a ring around here? Big, gold and emblazoned with a lightning bolt?

[Fortunately, Perry saw Wally enter the store. Suspicious man is suspicious. Why would anyone keep their face hidden like that? He must have something to hide. Being the secret agent he is, Perry can't let people like this roam free unattended. That's why he enters the store as well.

Wally may hear the slam of the door, but if he were to actually turn, all he'll see is a platypus, staring blankly into space behind him.]

[ Now that one's new. Wally leaves the shelves alone and focuses on watching the platypus for a while. He finally sighs softly and approaches closer, only to crouch right in front of the beastie. ]

Hey there, buddy. [ He sounds as friendly as anyone can. ] Are you lost? Australia is quite a way from here.

[The man may sound friendly, but he still looks suspicious. Can't be too careful, especially in a village filled with strangers. Perry blinks slowly, his gaze still on Wally. Must be a pretty old-fashioned guy if he still thinks the platypus is indigenous to Australia.]

You're a pretty calm guy, huh. [ A grin. Wally wishes he knew if all platypuses are like that, but he's a forensic scientist and not a zoologist. Well, at least now he can clam he'd seen an Australian mammal in the middle of some stupid other-dimensional village where it's very cold. ]

If Batman was here, he'd probably be able to tell what you're doing here. I bet he can speak platypus. [ A tired sigh. ] Well, at least you'd be able to keep what you've seen here a secret.

[Diana doesn't recognize Wally at first, but she approaches him curiously, concerned about the strange items of clothing on his face.]

Excuse me, are you all right?

[ That voice.

Wally freezes halfway through searching another shelf. His hands hastily shove a jacket back into its place before he turns around, the few visible parts of his face marked with concern. ]

Wonder Woman? [ He looks stunned for a moment, blinks and begins to look around. There, that large shelf will do. He looks back at Diana, then again at the shelf and begins to back away over there. His hand rises in a hurried gesture as his voice comes out in a loud whisper. ] Over here.

[She blinks before breaking into a grin. She'd recognize that voice anywhere. Diana indulges him for now, moving towards where he's gesturing.]

[ It's at times like this, that he wishes he could have a more open identity like Diana has, or be able to do... whatever Superman does that keeps him unrecognizable. But oh well. He'll be content with a hideaway behind the shelves for now. ]

Man, Dee, aren't you a sight for sore eyes. [ He lets out a sound, half relief and half amusement, and attempts to raise his arms for a round of articulated explanations... only to be reminded that his clothes aren't in their best form. ] Sorry about the fashion disaster. You see, I can't seem to find my costume for the life of me.

[ Yeah, Wally, go ahead and scare some little girls, why don't you? That's ought to make Batman real proud.

He doesn't notice Nanako's presence at first, being too busy digging through the shelves, but then there's a hint of movement in the corner of his eye and... ]

Oh! [ He stumbles back and opens up the path to the shelf for her. ] Sorry about that. I didn't notice you for a moment there.

Er... [ Good job, Wally. Scaring little girls is something your career sorely lacked up until this point! Now all you need is to make her cry and you can go join Batman and Orion on the pedestal of total killjoys. ]

I-if you're sure. [ A nervous laugh. He makes another step back, then another one and finally takes a chance to sidestep behind a shelf. ] There. I won't get in the way again, I swear.
