sir, there's coffee in my curry

So I'm completely behind on writing random episode summaries with one too many screencaps. Also, lazy as always, so I'm just going to do episodes 8 and 9 and catch up on the rest later. (These two ended up with quite a few screencaps actually. Kinda problematic for me.)

Anyway, onwards we go~

Just like the game, Nanako welcomes Yu home. Also, it's time for a good old school camping trip, so the team head off for a magical adventure.

But maybe not really. Also, the first of a couple of moments where it's shown that the female party members can't cook.

'But I hate coffee, so let's use coffee milk instead!'

And this is only a fraction of their conversation, the day before the trip.

A little disappointed that Yu wasn't present to watch it all happen, because it would have been pretty hilarious to see him make no attempt to stop their shopping spree. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea.

Mystery Food X. Culinary disaster genius.

We also end up with another social link person. His hair will always confuse me.

So, instead of being hungry for the entire night and fighting over animal crackers, we have Aika to the rescue. Not gonna lie, I'm a little disappointed, because Kanji's reactions to Yosuke eating his stash was pretty damn funny.

That said, Kanji is still awesome. And watching Naoki flail is fun as well.

Not shown; social link get. Maybe. It's a little sad to see them done/wrapped up so quickly, even if it has to be like that. And so the team agree that they have to catch the murderer.

The team discuss things. While picking up trash. It's riveting stuff.

And yeah. Yosuke is kind of an idiot during this scene (doing the whole 'if you're that way, are we safe?') and ends up egging Kanji into going to the girl's tent, because nothing could possibly go wrong.

Unfortunately, Yu decides to do the same thing as Yosuke, which is... kind of not good. In-game, you're actually given a choice (stop him, egg him on, or don't take sides at all) so it's a bit disappointing to see the anime do as it did.

That said, looking at the manga, it seems Souji's on the neutral/'don't get yourself in trouble' side of things.

Oh, also, I don't know why they put Kanji in the middle. Yu/Souji was supposed to be there, but I guess they didn't want the obvious human barrier there.

Either way, Kanji will run off no matter what and storm the girl's tent. Then, because Kanji is stuck in the girl's tent, Chie and Yukiko end up with the others.

Okay, yeah. Morooka is hilarious. ('You two better answer if you're in there!' 'We're asleep!' 'No you're not!')

Yeah, and guess whose fault that was.

Uncomfortable night over, Yosuke's back to his usual self and decides it's time to go swimming, getting the girls swimming costumes and all.

Yu and Kanji share a moment over how awesome purple swim trunks are.

Yosuke doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. The responses you're given will screw you over either way, though it doesn't affect their links.

And to finish off the episode; Nanako being cute.

Episode 9: lights, camera, action. Or something like that.

And this is right after she told her manager that she was quitting.

Weird opening gooooo

No, seriously, it was so bizarre.

This is neither new nor unexpected at this point. It'd be pretty funny if the characters just sighed when seeing these. Then again, that might take the fun out of it.

Anyway, Rise is an idol, so it doesn't take the team forever to figure out she's probably being targeted. And since she's taking a break in Inaba at her grandmother's tofu shop, they decide to visit.

Yosuke's face. His face.

Rise's taken a look at the Midnight Channel too. And gets their warning.

Then the police turn up with the same thing, only to be told she already knows.

Poor guy is going to lose his job while these TV murders are going on.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with their methods. Though it was funny to have the whole 'we're looking for suspicious people' > 'you guys looks suspicious' > 'Yosuke, are you the murderer?'

And Aika returns! I still have no idea what her role in this is. I mean, yeah, food is good and all, but seriously.

Suspicious person get.

Yu is left behind to protect the girl. (This also changes the sequence of events, and makes me sort of sad.)

Time for an all-out attack~ /o/

And Rise has issues. Of course.

The next day Yu runs into Rise after school, and ends up helping her avoid the crazy fans everywhere.

The tofu place has no back door. Rise's manager also turns up, and they end up at the shrine.

'Oh yeah, and that other idol girl? She's taken your role in that movie.'

This is what you get for questioning other people. Rise then runs off, naturally.

In which Dojima tries to be an uncle. Or maybe he just wants his job back.

Poor Nanako. She just doesn't understanddddd

And thus, the episode ends.

Oh.

Next episode: oontz oontz oontz

Episode 8 stats:

But all he's really done is make paper cranes. Reading, eating questionable material from the fridge (okay, guess there was Mystery Food X), answering questions in class... I want to see more of that.

= persona, damn you html, anime, music, external linking, yay screenshots
