Leoben kept telling himself that Thirteen really thought he was doing good things and defending his master's honor. It was hard to deal with though and sort of annoying. Trying to get Thirteen to stop was sort of impossible too and worse than even trying to get Calliope to go to sleep ( Read more... )

One thing John decided right then and there as Cash tore off up the path was to get some kind of collar and leash on him. John was getting damn tired of running after the little guy just so he wouldn't run off into the jungle and get himself eaten by a tiger or something (John was convinced the Direwolf in Cash's mind was way bigger than Cash actually was).

He was unsurprised to see Leoben and Thirteen when he finally caught up, Cash flopped down in the middle of the path as he panted off his run. John gave Leoben a grin, and bent down to check on Cash - and to catch his own breath. "Is he trying to kill animals again?" he asked up at Leoben.

"So he is," John said, looking on in amusement when Cash got back on all fours to greet the larger dog. He got up himself, wincing a bit when Cash let out a high pitched yip and took off down the path, turned, and came racing back.

"You know some kind of secret to just make him stop?" he asked Leoben. "Because this whole 'fast or sleeping' phase he's going through is driving me nuts."

Leoben grinned, eying Thirteen who was following Cash's movements with his eyes and panting a little, but not tackling him yet.

"He stops running when I don't follow him. It's not much fun if I'm not going to chase after him. And he likes sniffing at things so he never gets very far."
