Still recovering from this weekend's adventure, but I thought it would be a good time to recap some stuff while it's still fresh in my mind.
We drove out to Las Vegas Saturday morning after dropping the dog off at the kennel. The timing was perfect and we managed to get to airport right as
callmetc and
jpenamelist were heading to claim their bags. Vegas is currently an hour behind AZ so the time change works in our favor on the way there and against us on the way back.
We headed from the airport to the Wynn, where
l_stboy and Jaime were holed up in a ridiculously large room. We grabbed some lunch at a cafe there and then headed to the Flamingo to check in to our own rooms, which were not as large but adequate just the same. Then we were off again to get half priced tickets to the X-Burlesque show at the Flamingo, followed by a trip to
The Erotic Heritage Museum which was one block off the strip, behind the Fashion Mall. The museum was surprisingly excellent and well worth the trip.
Then it was back to the Wynn to change for our dinner reservations at
Mesa Grill, in Caesar's. The food was orgasmic and the wine was acceptable, despite the dreadfully wrong description by the Sommelier, who must have got his pin from a gumball machine. At some point it was decided that my name should start with J, since we had a a T and J from CA and a T and a J from MD, and because Tim is a T. So, my name is now Jasmine and we are the AZ T and J. ;)
We ended our evening at the Flamingo, where we saw the X-Burlesque show. It was a decent enough show, though I really have no basis for comparison. I thought some of the routines could have had a bit better choreography and one of the girls didn't really seem all that into being there, but overall it was good. After the show, we threw some money at the Megasbucks machine and tried our luck at the Blackjack tables. I was successful, managing to win enough for tickets to Penn and Teller the next day. ;) We retired to our room and a nice glass of Cab from St. Supery.
On Sunday, we were just four: T and J from MD and T and J/S from AZ. We had a mediocre breakfast buffet at Flamingo and then headed over to Rio to use our 2 for 1 show ticket travelocity deal on Penn and Teller tickets. From Rio, we headed out to
Red Rock Canyon, after a minor detour (thank you Lexus GPS), we arrived and so did the rain and wind. T and J must have done a rain dance the night before (we did hear noises from their room ;:)) because I am noticing a pattern of rain in the desert when ever they visit. Anyway, we drove around the 13mile scenic loop, stopping once to freeze our butts off so that I could take a picture, and then it was back to the car and Vegas to warm up
We spent the afternoon shopping and gambling. I made some money on blackjack and then proceeded to return the favor to the casino. Md T was much more successful. We had a great dinner at
Sushi Roku in the Forum Shops at Caesar's, caught a 20minute nap back at the room and then we were off to the Rio for Penn and Teller. The show was awesome and I am still trying to figure out how they did most of their tricks, even the balls with the clear cups! hahaha I was thoroughly entertained.
Monday, we dropped T and J off at the airport and then we made the 5 1/2 hr trip back to Phoenix. The kennel was nice and did not charge me for a third night, despite me being 1 hr past pick up time (this is where the time change worked against us). It's good to be home and we are looking forward to a nice, cheap, relaxing weekend. ;)
