Persona 3 Spoilers will follow this backstory at all times.
Ryoji Mochizuki, now under the care of a rather rich, overseas foster family, has been living in America for several years. He's returned to Tatsumi Port Island to enroll in the supposedly well-off school there; his parents are busy people and would see he got a good education. On his way home from the train station, he re-experiences the Dark Hour, but for some strange reason, isn't bothered by it.
Upon entering the Dorm, he was confronted by a young man. He said they took responsibility, and needed to keep doing so--it was a simple gesture to sign his name on the contract.
"You know, the usual kind of stuff."
Ryoji was confronted by Yukari Takeba, suspicious of him. Stopped from attacking him by Mitsuru, who explains he's their new transfer student, he's asked if he'd seen anything out of the ordinary on his way here.
"Aside from two stunningly beautiful ladies in front of me? Nothing at all~" Was his reply. It deemed him groan from Yukari, but they became friends nonetheless.
As the days progressed he became VERY fast friends with Junpei Iori as well. Akihiko Sanada seems to be the only one he tries giving a term of respect to, though, because he's too busy trying to hit on Mitsuru and getting rejected to address her as a Senpai. Besides, the terms are still fairly new to him.
The Night of the Full Moon...
Later, when their dorm is attacked by a large Shadow during a full moon, Ryoji awakens his Persona ability, summoning Thanatos. He'd had no choice, otherwise--pick up the gun, save the girl in distress... or die? He went on instinct... and that same boy told him to try it. He did.
However, what instead happened is that Orpheus, Master of Strings, appears. A hole in the ground drags Thanatos into it, and from a coffin he reemerges as Orpheus. After the battle, Ryoji finds himself unconscious for a long time, and in the hospital.
After his recovery and getting used to school (still no luck on that date with Takeba, though), Ryoji and the other newbies, Junpei and Yukari, are sent into the nest of Shadows, called Tartarus, in order to determine who would best be suited for their new leader.
Ryoji's skill in battle isn't bad, but when he's told he has to shoot himself all the time, he's at first reluctant to fight at all. But when a Maya attacks Yukari, he has no choice but to pull the trigger on his Evoker, straight to the left side of his head, and summon Thanatos. Oddly, he can pick up different cards and summon many different Personae.
However, he seems to have an affinity for the Death, Devil, and Judgment Arcanas....
His skill in battle after this performance earns him the spot of leader, even if he can be a bit immature about other things at times. From the battle he earns a strange weapon--a scythe. After using it once or twice, he finds himself most comfortable with this tool afterwards, and decides to keep using them versus switching weapons--he finds it more intuitive.
A few months later... (All the story progresses the same as it would canonically, just with a different leader in different situations. That, and Ryoji is much more likely to date every girl he meets. ... Still no luck with Yukari, though.)
When he meets Aigis, she immediately tells him that, at first, he wasn't who she was looking for. But after he chases after her, and stops her, she speaks to him, and tells him he may be in danger, and he doesn't seem right. However, she senses his good heart, and quickly warms up to him. Perhaps he's not so dangerous after all...?
Still, even knowing she's a robot, Ryoji can't help but attempt to get a date with Aigis. ... To no avail, of course.
Around November, after all 12 Shadows are destroyed, he stops seeing the young boy during the Dark Hour on full moons. Almost within the next week or so, a teenage boy named Minato Arisato transfers into his class, and they fastly become friends....
His canon point for 8_Dressing as of now, is November 21st, after terrorizing the girl's in the hot springs, and nearly being executed by Mitsuru (see the next entry for further detail). Too bad him and Junpei passed out, huh?
