I actually did watch a couple clips, and found myself more offended than normal. These two writers and the people passing this off as entertainment and thinking its funny? (Including a weirdly worded comment from Gamble that seems.. off) I'll pass, especially after seeing the brief examples. You know the other issues I had with it (actual ep aside) and really, I would just be glad if those two writers would never show up again, sure I could have maybe kept on watching the show but I should maybe thank them for getting me to stop but either way it was borderline offensive on so many levels ( ... )

I confess I was offended by this episode... not so much that Becky was supposed to represent the fans, since I prefer not to go there. (In my mind this sounded like a good idea when pitched but when presented as a finished script they didn't have enough lead time to find and fix all the problems. And in my mind TPTB no longer use Becky to wink at the fans, she has just become a character in her own right. ) What I found most offensive was that TPTB presented this as entertainment, and tried to pretend that it was up to the standards we have come to expect from the show. They tried to pretend that we wouldn't notice shit like the fact that Sam used his real name, or that Becky could have found plenty of more credible ways to get Sam to her HS reunion (including just asking him: "Hey, I did you a solid, can you help me out?") Or the supposedly annual Vegas-week trip that we have never heard of because it's been clear from other eps that they have never been to Vegas before this episode. Frankly so much about this episode just ( ... )

Well, yes, there were probably more blatant continuity errors than you could shake a stick at. And yeah, the Vegas thing was more likely a plot device that they saw and used because 'hey vegas quickie wedding, have they been there, maybe we can just lie!', IMO, this episode probably had more holes in it than Swiss cheese.

Well, yeah, I mean how else can you describe her character to the outside viewer, she's just something they use, I think, to irritate folks since this ep happened (back in Real Ghostbusters I was a little weirded out she klepto'd Chuck's phone) and sure, first ep it ewas nice but this ep crossed a few lines that I (even as a minimalist viewer) was uncomfortable with and her character is also something that they can use to 'poke' at fans instead of going 'hey we see ( ... )

Oh, the icons definitely make your points!

And the Vegas quickie wedding thing: that was a lazy way to get Sam and Becky someplace where he could get married immediately, but... 1. they didn't need to get married for her class reunion scheme to work and 2. why not just make this their first trip to Vegas instead of outright LYING to the fans? And if Becky could find/lure them so easily, why can't the Levis?

I WOULD ask Jared or Jensen whether they had any input on the themes in this episode but their obvious loyalty to the show and to their characters would just force an awkward and unsatisfying response. But one does have to wonder if some people associated with the show (hopefully not the stars) have decided that they really don't like the fans anymore. Certainly i's a conclusion a lot of disgruntled people came to after this ep. I'd rather ask Sera or other highly-placed folk What Were They Thinking and did they really think this was funny, inoffensive and intelligently written.
