The interview went surprisingly well today. I arrived at the office ahead of schedule because it took me less time than I imagined to get there. I tried to drive around and familiarize myself with the area, but I was low on gas and couldn't keep going without wasting it. never ever ever ever tell your current employer, no matter how reasonable they may seem to be, that you are considering leaving/ looking for a new job/ being interviewed for different jobs until after you have signed the contract on a new job.

Even the most reasonable people suddenly turn nasty when they think you're screwing them and you might find up that you don't get ANY shifts - which is BAD BAD BAD if you don't get a job!!!

And the best way to tell them you're leaving after you've got a new job is "I really appreciate the skills and relationships that working here has helped me to develop but I really feel that its time for me to move on and learn new things that only a new work environment could provide. I therefore regretfully tender my resignation from position (blah blah) as at (date you don't wanna work for them anymore). Sincerely, Myrnalots."

letter form of course. You can adapt for verbal if you wish, but this way they can't yell at you.

A letter? I'd be pissed if someone quit via letter. I think I'm going to wait until I actually get the job to say anything.

It depends on the environment you're working in. I use my current boss as a reference all the time. It's obvious that people can't stay there because they pay so little ( ... )

Best of luck!!

I've given up finding a new job, and I'm just waiting until grad school. I've been doing odd jobs here and there for some extra cash.
