Chase had been keeping sober because he'd been worried that it might be time for Savannah any minute. He didn't even sleep anymore, it felt like, because he was constantly up and ready to go. When she told him that this was the 'for real' time, he gave a ready nod. "Are you okay if we do a quick exam inside?" He wanted to be sure.

"That would be a good idea," she said, not in too terribly much pain just right now. She still held her stomach and back in anticipation of another contraction.

"They're getting harder. One just about made me cry," Savannah admitted. This was something she'd read about but nothing she was truly prepared for.

"Okay," Chase said, giving Savannah an excited smile. "I would say some goodbyes now," he advised. "If you're actually in labour, which I suspect you are, we could be gone a few hours or a few days. Honestly, it's hard to know which. Do you want me to get Jack and Logan?"

"Yes. Yes, they need to be here," she said with a decisive nod. She kept both hands pressed to the small of her back and rocked a little bit on her heels.

"Oh, but first can you help me take off this dress? It's so heavy and so tight. I can't hardly stand it."
