Alison doesn't mention these things because she's too modest, but I really enjoyed reading this. Being that I am roughly in the same position, her words ring all the more true.

man, forget about your parents. UI is where it's at, and you're gonan need it until you learn french so you can get a decent job out there.

damn, that's one fine apartment, with a gorgeous view of the mountain, right on le plateau. new years is gonna be H-AMAZING!

Nice apartment.

If money ever becomes tight and you don't mind working as an English teacher again, SE Asia is a good place to go. Everything's dirt cheap, and even though you'd only be earning a pittance, you'd be fine financially because of the low costs.

Don't think I could live there at this point in my life and I think I may be able to find some work teaching english again to Francaphones in Montreal (knock on wood).
