I Think I Just Leveled Up in World of Real Life

I am an ex-WoW player. For those of you who are still uninitiated or culturally unaware, WoW stands for "World of Warcraft", an MMPORPG of massive proportions that has both been praised and villified for its longevity and domination of its genre.

Loved your post. I still think of WoW too occasionally. I don't feel like the years I played WoW were wasted, because it was something I needed at the time, and I made some good friendships during it. But now I would be very hesitant to go back exactly for the reasons you describe. And real life is so much better. :)

See, you did it right, so to speak. ;) You made friends and kept them, probably.

I, too, needed the interaction at the time but it fulfilled a very different role in my life when I was playing it.

Now the cast, so to speak, has changed and my real life is so amazing that anything else pales. And yes, I still pine for it to some extent. I just can't justify going back.

I'm so glad that your real life is amazing too. :)
