Equal Opportunity - "The right of all persons to be accorded full and equal consideration on the basis of merit or other relevant, meaningful criteria, regardless of protected group status"

Affirmative Action - "The practice of actively seeking to increase the number of racial minorities"

So, they only employ highly qualified minorities? Those narrow minded idiots.

An Equal Opportunity Position only means that white males won't be hired to fill the position. Somewhere Equal Opportunity came to mean that you must have minorities in the company, giving them priority over someone who is actually qualified. Doesn't sound like equal chances to me.

I think somewhere along the line the word 'equal' came to mean something totally different than what I was taught it meant back in elementary school. Oh, how I yearn for the day when people could get a job based on merit, not politics.

Equal Opportunity is a capitalized term, which means it was defined somewhere else and thus has a legalese definition, rather than "equal opportunity". The paragraph is still wrong, since any employer must discriminate at the least with respect to age, by law, but this problem is not internal to the paragraph.
