FIVE LOGICAL THINGS AMBASSADOR DID IN HIS COURTSHIP OF LADY AMANDA, WHICH PLEASED HER,
Plus One That Was Deemed Illogical by Many

Author's Note:
This story was written for the Vulcan Kink meme
thread on st_xi_kink, where all prompts, fills and comments were "written by Vulcan fangirls".
This was the original prompt: "Lady Amanda seems very emotional; but she must appreciate logic as well, or else Ambassador Sarek would never have bonded with her. Hence, I would like to request some speculation on 'five logical things Ambassador Sarek did in his courtship of Lady Amanda, which pleased her.'
Genre: Humor; fluff; het
Pairing: Sarek/Amanda
Words:370

ONE

THE ACTION: He gave her a box of Rigellian chocolates.

THE LOGIC: Including a wide variety of different food stuffs in one’s diet is good for one’s physical well-being. It is a considerate action to make sure another person has the possibility to do so.

TWO

THE ACTION: He let her ride on the backseat of his hover bike on several trips.

THE LOGIC: If one wishes to meet with another person at a certain destination and a means of transport sufficient for both is available, it would be illogical to make said other person use another, as this would be a waste of energy/fuel and increase the risk of both parties not arriving at the same time.

THREE

THE ACTION: He wrote a poem in Old High Vulcan for her.

THE LOGIC: As the Lady Amanda was a xenolinguist, it was logical to provide her with source materials to further her studies.

FOUR

THE ACTION: During a diplomatic reception, he, accompanied by the Lady Amanda, stepped out onto the balcony, where he asked her to clean some sauce off his fingers with her tongue, which she did.

THE LOGIC: If an Ambassador’s formal robe wasn’t spotlessly clean, this would be perceived as a severe breach of protocol by several species. It was therefore logical to resort to this impromptu method of cleaning.

FIVE

THE ACTION: He took her on a holiday on Risa.

THE LOGIC: As the Risan tourism industry takes pride in providing recreational facilities suitable to as many species as possible, from meditation centers run by Vulcans to Klingon fight clubs, Risa is a logical destination for persons from different cultural backgrounds wishing to spend a vacation together.

AND…

THE ACTION: He married her.

WHY THIS WAS DEEMED ILLOGICAL BY MANY, BUT TURNED OUT NOT TO BE:
Due to the differences in culture, upbringing, and character, it was estimated that a bonding between Ambassador Sarek and Lady Amanda had only a 30.7% chance of long-term success.
However, this turned out to be a calculated risk, as their bond proved to be stable and benefitting both partners for as long as the Lady Amanda lived. To use Terran vernacular: Sarek and Amanda “beat the odds”.
