Communication between sentient ships was efficient. But it meant no one had been notified when Spock and M'Benga were beamed back - their arrival caused a certain small stir but sick bay was humming along quietly enough.
Was this what it would be like everytime? Spock mulled over the possibility as he reformed in the sterile brightness, all parts present, all personal systems functioning. Would it be like this, an urgent scan for Jim's presence, a quick pulsing ping through the bond for Leonard?
This was not their Enterprise. But it was like coming home.
And there Jim was - talking to his Leonard's counterpart, Doctor McCoy - so strange to thing of another man by that name now.
