The temperature of the room had been maintained through the night and Spock woke easily and comfortably - he would not admit that he had calculated the odds of comfort and found them considerably lower as that would be to admit surprise.
He did not dwell on it. There was much to accomplish. He tidied, as was his habit, and thought.
There was never enough time. It was impossible to say how long he would be kept here. Spock mentally sketched a vague and adaptable curriculum for teaching Ayel - Ael - what he would need to accomplish a bond.
The details began to take shape.
First, there was the centering of meditation. One could not join with another if one could not hold one’s self steady and sure. Ael’s meditation had been satisfactory so they could move on, though Spock would recommend daily practice.
Nero - Oren - would require practice as well. So, then, it would be a two-fold teaching: Ael as student to Spock and Ael as teacher to Nero until, should it become possible, Spock could directly instruct him.
Spock would not, as his Leonard was fond of saying, hold his breath.
Next, there would be reaching. Spock would, if Ael consented, demonstrate. Then allow Ael to do the same - Spock’s own defenses were sturdy enough to withstand the fumblings of a student. At the same time, there would be the ethics and the whys of the ethics of mind melding. It could be a dangerous weapon; Spock would not give it to him without proper boundaries described thoroughly.
There would be more. But this would be their beginning.
He found the symbol Ael had shown him and sent it out, a call to class.
