Did they let you renew?

Yeah the teller was a dumb bitch and she explained that there was nothing wrong with my card, when I told her that a minute earlier I was downstairs trying to take out money and couldn't.

I headed to the front desk and she was like 'how could the teller not tell there was a problem? It says so right on the first page!'

Idiot.

I'm a little upset I had to get a new card with a new number because now it means re-memorization of the numbers for my online banking, and the new chip thing is kinda annoying because it's supposed to 'feed' and not 'swipe'?

I don't know, I didn't get the concept, but whatever.

Yeah we get a bunch of those at EB, the little gold chip you insert it in the actual debit machine (not the one with the customer keypad, the one with the store keypad.. at least in most stores) it's really stupid though, I get that it adds a password to credit cards which is good for security..

but debit cards already have a password so it's redundant.

Some people tell me that it makes the card significantly harder to duplicate, which has been becoming a problem. I know some people whose cards have been copied.

I work in this industry so let me geek out for a moment. 8)

The chip card that is now being placed in credit cards is part of PCI compliance that will be standard for all cards starting 2011 if I remember correctly. Liz is right about it making things more scure because right now fraud is so easy to do. I'm pretty sure debit will be chip as well.

Some people are all paranoid that it's a government conspiracy thing where they're using it to track people more easily
