Not only in the oil companies' pockets, but those of the auto industry, which is directly/indirectly responsible for a lot of the lackluster public transpo we have in this country.
I wonder how far the poor and marginal middle-class will have to be pushed before we start seeing some heavy reactions. Coxey's Army for the modern day?
Dunno exactly how old you are, but I remember the lines and gas rationing of the 70s, and wonder how long it will be before we are there again. I'm wondering whether I should buy a locking gas cap because I remember people stealing gas from parked cars and also raiding farms that had their own little tanks/pumps for the machinery.

The good thing I'm seeing about this is that maybe- just maybe- people will start to move back to the inner cities. I hope so.
