I've been reading bawww threads on /vp/ lately.  I'm not sure why I thought this was a good idea, but...it's reminded me of a lot of Poke-bros and toys from the past.  Brace for bawww and d'awww.  Probably mostly boring, but it's stuff I've been thinking about a lot lately.

As the credits rolled, I thought about how pets sometimes live up to their names. Maybe Pokemon can too, even though they're just pixels and data.

I agree with this so hard!!

I'm reminded of Catherine, my Rapidash from Yellow. She's gone now (my sister accidentally deleted my file -- the controller extension for Stadium messed up -- while playing it without permission, then stole my game and started her own =/). However, I couldn't help naming a Ponyta after her in Pearl. It's cheesy, but I feel like it's upholding the spirit of Catherine. I believe I did the same with MoonChu on FR or LG. I'm still pretty bummed about losing everything from Yellow, though... twice! I get attached to my mons.

When G/S/C rolled around, I actually liked to see the true genders of my Pokemon. I never had any of that generation, but I'd check them on a friend's Stadium II. I don't actually remember what any of them were, though.

I just finished transferring all my bros from Platinum to my Diamond. I got really, really attached to some of them. Kite the Drifblim and Kersey the Bronzong were probably the ones I liked most. So happy I transferred them. I'm doing the same with my Ruby bros. Migration to Pal Park FTW.

I think the deep attachment most people begin to feel toward their pixels is what makes Nuzlocke runs so appealing to people. It makes it all more real, and it makes you care more about your team.

I just started a Platinum Nuzlocke. Desmond the Turtwig, Harold the Shinx, and Derp the Bidoof have already wormed their way into my heart. I panicked when Harold got critted down to 1HP. It's nice to have a game evoke emotion again.
