"Oh, you nerds are so entertaining on TV!"

Welcome to another episode of "That Can't Really Have Happened But It Totally Did."

So, on Saturday I was at the comic shop as usual.  We're chatting about various things and watching the Venture Brothers when this lady comes in.  She looks like someone's aging mother.  I figure "Oh, she's buying something for her son."  No.

"Is this a comic shop?"

We all stared in silence for a bit before we answered in the affirmative.  Well, yes it's a comic shop.  The sign says "Comics and More," doesn't it?  And the aisles are filled with comics, yes?

"I watch The Big Bang Theory."

The one comment that no actual fan of anything remotely nerdy ever wants to hear.

"They always go to a comic shop, so I wanted to see if it was like that."

She left after we didn't do any zany hijinks or have entertaining conversations.

John put it best after she left:  "Oh, you nerds are so entertaining on TV!  I had to see if you were like that in real life!"

This is why nobody in any fandom is ever glad when their specific group is shown in a TV drama or sitcom (pardon the generalization).

It offends me that I was being used for someone else's entertainment without being compensated for it.  I suppose I might be more inclined to watch The Big Bang Theory if people weren't constantly comparing me (and those around me) to the people and situations in it.  Come on, people.  Really.

Aside from that, I'm mostly caught up with Venture Brothers, and I adored the latest episode of Superjail! (poor Jailbot).

I've also started playing Spiral Knights with the boyfriend.  Oh god.  It's so cute.  I think I've found my new MMO.  I'm Yield, if anyone's playing and wants to add me.

spiral knights, vent, did that really just happen?
