Happy Halloween!
I'm celebrating by showing off my latest art project:
I finally repainted the boyfriend's Optimus. Now there is a bundle of alternate-universe evil lounging around amongst my ponies until his human comes home for Thanksgiving break.
Overall, I'm happy with the finished product. There are a few areas that still have the original colors showing through (areas inside the wheels on his back and other hard-to-reach places), but just standing there he looks good.
The Citadel paints were definitely worth the money. All of that vivid color is one coat. I had to use toothpicks to get the green to look just right in some areas due to my lack of small brushes, but that turned out okay. Took about 7 hours total spread over two days, mostly because my hands kept shaking at the most inopportune moments.
I was going to get some SG 'bot symbols for him, but I ran into two problems:
- They probably would not show up on his paint job.
- Reprolabels does not sell them except in their huge sheet-o-symbols, and you only get one per sheet.
Needless to say, I threw that idea out. I may try to get some black or chrome 'bot symbols to put on him at a later date, but I think he looks fine without.
