Germany: Last week

Dec 06, 2011 09:17

1. I had some very interesting and thought provoking travels beyond Munich.

2. I will arrive in Tokyo on Thursday afternoon. Due to circumstances, the teachers at Seigaku have kindly given me an extension period for my examinations.

3. I know examinations are underway, and I will not distract you from them. However, if it is possible to call a brief, optional team meeting on Saturday night when they are over, I would appreciate it.

[in German]4. Your Friar has left me with several messages for you. The first: You need not worry about Krampus, he knows you have been well behaved. The second: That he has lit a candle in prayer every day for your safety. The third: That he will be on mission in Japan around the time of tournament season, or perhaps before.

5. Operation on Friday. I haven't even seen mother yet, but I can be sure she is fretting enough for the two of us. Somehow, that makes it less nerve wracking. The doctors in Germany, as well as the doctors Atobe sent, all concurred that it is necessary.

I do not want to see the expression on my grandfather's face.

6. Traveling to Ingolstadt was more encouraging than I had expected it to be. If Krauser-kun's coach can play tennis in a wheel chair...well, having to play with one's weaker arm seems unimportant. I picked up some interesting books from the town as well. The poetry is of a religious/pastoral nature, yet it seems applicable.

From the Mower to the Glow-worms

Ye living lamps, by whose dear light
The nightingale does sit so late,
And studying all the summer night,
Her matchless songs does meditate;

Ye country comets, that portend
No war nor prince’s funeral,
Shining unto no higher end
Than to presage the grass’s fall;

Ye glow-worms, whose officious flame
To wand’ring mowers shows the way,
That in the night have lost their aim,
And after foolish fires do stray;

Your courteous lights in vain you waste,
Since Juliana here is come,
For she my mind hath so displac’d
That I shall never find my home.
-Andrew Marvell

7. I have been in communication with the other members of the student council about a Gay Straight Alliance, or at the very least, some kind of anti-bullying alliance. The response has been positive. More about that when I have had better communication opportunities.

8. Two "rivals" seem to have come together. I hope they can bring each other some peace.
