What?  Look ladies stop being so sensitive.  Barbie never gave me body issues.  She was just a doll.  God.

That old saw again?

Look, Barbie did kind of make me have day dreams about velcro clothes and skirts that would never stay down so boys would look up them, but I wasn't 8 then, I was 13, and that was more of the sex books for adults I was reading than Barbie's fault.

I never wanted to look like her. She had pointy feet for crying out loud. And horrible make up.

It's her 50th anniversary so all the women who want to apply sinister applications to all dolls have crawled out of the woodwork. I consider myself a feminist and I loved my barbies. All of mine were black except for one white barbie, one white skipper, and an asian barbie. I never wanted to look like them and I never felt bad that they had those unrealistic proportions.

Well, I told you my mother sewed unremovable puritanical underpants on all my Barbies, didn't I?

And our Barbie box looked like the frickin' Rainbow Coalition.

We just got mad because Ken's head never stayed on and as such by the time I was 12 70% of the ladies in Barbie Land were lesbians. The rest were in love with Steven. True story.

LOL I remember that story. Of course I kept losing Ken legs so I ended up with one kind of ugly black Ken. Everyone fought over him too, but I didn't have any lesbians in my Barbie camp as I led a sheltered childhood.
