There is tons of really good (and often even affordable) software still coming out for PS2 and NDS; enough to last me for at least the next year or so. By then, maybe possibly the price on the PS3 will drop. Or in any case it won't be going for $3000 on eBay. And as a bonus, I won't end up with flaky easily-breakable launch hardware. Yey.
Yeah, if video gaming history hasn't taught us anything else, it should have taught us not to buy launch hardware. I doubt the price will drop much in just a year, since that's probably about as long as it will take to fill the "launch" demand. Maybe once Blu-ray and HD technology is more prevalent (and thus probably easier to produce)...
I probably won't be getting a ps3 for a long time anyway, the ps2 and computer games will keep me until I can get a Wii, which will then have to last until I finally break and get a ps3. I was never very tempted to get an Xbox, so I doubt the 360 will be much more tempting. Still, you never know...
