Okay, someone really needs to help me here, I feel like I'm missing some fundamental common knowledge of the universe or something. Suddenly, everyone I talk to is on an Apple binge and can't stop raving about how the Mac platform and the iPod/iPhone are the greatest things to grace commercial stock and I just don't get it. I'm trying guys, really ( Read more... )

Honestly, I don't have a single clue what's up with all the influx of Apple users.

I think people are just herding away, fearing that 7 and its many faces are just as prone to fail as some of the other OS's Windows put out (prime examples being ME and 2K. XP and Vista hit the list only pending on what the hell you use your system for).

I, for the most part, barely do anything with my comp nowadays. And me not keeping up with it is what caused my unit to bomb. A re-install, careful choosing of installed items and regular recovery set-ups should put an end to that. And my unit is running faster than it ever has before. Only reason why I would want to get more RAM now is if I upgrade both my video and my audio set-ups as well.

Only reason why Apple seems simple is cause Apple is constricting. Why do you think so many people jailbreak their iPhones?

Man, even that seems like a bit of a stretch to me though. I run Vista now and ran ME for years and never had any problems. Ironically, the one virus I ever got (courtesy a friend's reference to an FTP server of his that happened to be infected) was on XP, which has been hailed as the "perfect" Windows OS for some goofy reason (well, not goofy, it simply has been around longer and therefore has nearly all its holes plugged ( ... )

I use a mac at home, but all the computers I use at work are Windows. I think like most things involving technology they have their good and bad points. Though while I consider myself a mac user, I don't consider myself a mac fanboy. I do see the flaws in it, and I do think that most of the problems people have with windows are because they make stupid mistakes. And to be perfectly honest, I probably would be using a windows compuer if my instructors hadn't reccommended me getting a Mac.

You want my take on the subject? Macs are great for working, and Windows are great for playing games. I own both, and you CAN do work on Windows, and you CAN play games on a Mac, but not as well, I find.
Macs have a very streamlined and user-friendly OS (I guess you got the 1 in 1 million Macs that don't work). Macs are fantastic for people who DONT KNOW HOW TO USE COMPUTERS. Since not all of us take the time to learn the ins and outs of our OS, people like to use Macs for their ease of use, to say nothing of all the "ilife" stuff Mac has to make movies/photos/stuff easier. Now Windows, on the other hand, are for people who grew up and/or took the time to learn a thing or two about 'pooters. It's much easier to change hardware around with Windows, and to change internal stuff around. You can mess with the Windows OS, but stupid people can stupidly screw up their computers they know nothing about doing that. You can't mess up the fundimentals on a Mac. I value my Windows more than my Mac, cuz I game more than I work on a 'pooter.
