Totally true... My note of make sure is basically telling people to wake up and smell the chlymidia :O They should be a little open and honest about shit they know about, and shit they don't know about...
If they have a disease, bring it up. Get it out in the clear. Take the precautions. If you don't know, be up front and honest there too.
That stigma you mention is terribly and unfortunatly very true for many sheeple out there...
