I think it is a combination of hope, and a feeling of accomplishment since a year is a definitive measurement. Like crossing out days on a calendar.

And also, at the end of a year you look back to the next year and you probably have good stuff lined up that you're either planning for or hope will happen. I know I do, which is why I feel hopeful that 2010 is gonna be a good year.

I mean, that's probably unrealistic since there'll be unexpected bad stuff too and probably lots of it, but I'd rather focus on the good.

Besides, 2010 is such a cool number for a year. It's like living in the future.
