A FREAKIN' CASTLE?!

Apparently Nicholas Cage has to sell his castle in Germany, to which I of course said

"WHAT THE SHIT THAT MOTHERFUCKER HAD A GODDAMN CASTLE?!"

I totally hate him extra now. FUCK YOU FOR FUCKING UP GHOST RIDER AND MAKING THAT HORRIBLE REMAKE OF THE WICKER MAN AND THEN DEDICATING IT TO JOEY RAMONE ( Read more... )

Have you thought about targeting the "geekery" section of the site? I feel like you'd be a natural in there.

Been thinking about it, but aside from my dice pendants and earrings, I don't have all that much "geeky" stuff. I've still been pondering reopening my Project Wonderful account and doing some advertising on gaming webcomics, but on the whole... it's kind of a tangle. My mom suggested I specialize in something, but I actually prefer doing a bit of everything.

What's your call, though? What do you think is my strongest suit?

I think there's lots of people on there with multiple specialties. Some people set up separate storefronts for different areas, but I'm not convinced that's all that necessary.

There's a ton of writing out there on Etsy marketing strategy, and on doing audience research, that might be worth Googling. I think you have to know the Etsy audience(s), what they like, and make your product work for them.

I suspect most of Etsy traffic comes internal to the site. It's a browse-happy medium, people go there to poke around, and there's a hundred ways to do that (treasuries, color-browser, geolocator). Pieces with a strong (positive) flavor develop a following. What makes your pieces different, worth clicking on in a search? Browse around the site - what catches your eye, and why? Do they seem to be having success with it, and why?

I was so sad that Knowing was so good. Alex Proyas > Nicholas Cage, I suppose.

Plus the ending of the movie was cathartic in that sense. ;-)

I would throw a "some" in front of "actors, musicians, and sports figures", knowing some actors and musicians who are struggling, and that most of them are.

But that's part of the "fucked up".

On the same topic, I learned today that the highest-paid state employee in most states is a football or basketball coach (e.g., Tubby Smith in MN).
